The Rumors Are True! Jimmy Page Touring in 2010

I’ve heard rumors, and have to admit, been helping spread them, about Jimmy Page touring Europe in 2010.  I decided to do some research before I continued spreading these rumors.  I was just so excited, I had to share the rumor even if it wasn’t true.  Any classic rock or Led Zeppelin fan can relate to my excitement produced by even the possibility that he might tour.

While the details of his tour are still being worked out, it is official according to what he has told the press.   According to Guitar World he says he will be touring with or without his Led Zeppelin band mates.  Unfortunately, they are occupied with their own projects.  LAME.  However, either way, it will worth keeping an eye/ear out for.

Top Ten Albums (I happened upon in) 2009

My music taste evolves a little bit every year.  Since the new year has just come around again (already!?), I thought I would share the top ten albums I came across in 2009.  These albums didn’t necessarily come out in this year, I just came across them during the year of 2009.

10.  The In Sound From Way Out  –  Beastie Boys

Why didn’t someone tell me about this album sooner?!  It came out in 1994 and the sound of it is so mellow and cool which is the kind of sound I never seem to tire of.  It has a sort of tongue in cheek porn sound to it.  My favorite tracks are “Son Of Neckbone”, “Groove Holmes”, and “Ricky’s Theme”.  The latter sounds so Zero 7-ish, or is the other way around?  Anyway, I’m so glad I found this album.  It will be on a regular rotation for years to come I am sure.

9.  The New Moon Original Sound Track

I don’t care what anyone says about the movie, the soundtrack is really good.  Surprisingly good.  I mean, come on, it has Thom Yorke on it.  The collection of songs and musicians as a whole has a really good feel to it.  They did good.

8.  The Fall  –  Norah Jones

I’ve always liked Norah Jones’ voice but never really enjoyed her until this album that came out in 2009.  Apparently, all she needed to do was hook up with one of the sound engineers from Tom Waits’ album, “Mule Vibrations”, and I’d love her.  I somehow suddenly related to her.  Odd how that works.  I particularly like the love song she sings about her dog called “Man of the Hour”.  I LOVE my dog so I can relate!

7.  The Party  –  LMFAO

Mindless fun is good for the soul sometimes.  :p  You gotta let loose now and then.  I love this album for driving or when I’m feeling ridiculous.  I enjoy how these guys don’t seem to take themselves too seriously and just made something that sounds really interesting and fun.

6.  Cross  –  Justice

Another lighthearted one that is pretty fresh if you ask me.   I particularly like the female rapper’s voice on this album.

5.  HotTUB

I’m not aware of any albums they have out but I have some random songs of theirs.  I took my sister to see the Ting Tings and these girls opened up for them.  After getting over the shock of their lyrics and stage presence because it just wasn’t the kind of group I expected to open the show, I enjoyed them more than the Ting Tings.  These girls just don’t give a ****!  I loved them so much I went home and downloaded whatever was available off of their MySpace page.  My favorite song of theirs is “Manbitch”.  They are the kind of band that would fit in great with one of Cobra Kai Entertainment’s shows.

4.  Midnight Boom  –  The Kills

After listening to The Dead Weather and loving Alison Mosshart, I decided to listen more seriously to The Kills because that’s where she really started becoming successful.  I’d heard some of their music in passing, but after really giving it a listen, they became a favorite.  This is my favorite album of theirs at the moment.

3.  It’s Blitz  –  Yeah Yeah Yeah’s

This lady’s voice is stunning and is the cherry on top to the extraordinary lyrics on this album.  “Head’s Will Roll” and “Runaway” are my favorites on this album.  I need to lay off the Dead Weather and listen to this one more often.

2.  In Rainbows  –  Radiohead

I’ve been listening to this album off and on since it came out and it’s still in my top 10 for 2009.  I never tire of it.  I can’t say it’s my favorite of Radiohead’s, because I really think I love all of their albums equally, but I sure did listen to it a lot this past year.  I really don’t know how to explain their music accurately.  Just listen to it.  I know for a fact I will never tire of Radiohead.  Ever.  I saw them live last year and it was phenomenal.  If one can be in love with a band, I’m in love with them.  I truly believe they are geniuses.

1.  Horehound  – The Dead Weather

My first listen to this album was kind of disappointing.  I wasn’t expecting much because how many times can Jack White really nail it?  Apparently, he has no limits.  By the fifth listen or so, I was hooked and this cd stayed in my car cd player for about three months straight.  I’m not exaggerating.  I’m totally in love with Alison Mosshart now, but who isn’t that knows who she is?  This album has an amazing raw and honest sound to it.  I love every single song on it, but the ones that really pop into my head when I think of it are “Cut Like A Buffalo”, “Treat Me Like Your Mother”, and “So Far From Your Weapon”.  I definitely NEED to see them live!

This video of theirs is so amazingly bad-ass.

2010: The year of amazing showers!

This is finally fixed, thank goodness!  It only took about 3 years for my landlord to fix it.  They finally replaced the pipes that were clogged with rust/lime or whatever was in there.  I really don’t need to know.  It’s fixed.  It took them forever to get to it, but it’s fixed.

I will definitely never take a good shower for granted again.  It feels so amazing.  I had taking a shower with terrible water pressure down to an art form, though, I have to say.  It’s all about the cupping and squishing of the hair.  And patience.  Any friend of mine who saw, in person, how horrible my shower was can vouch for their amazement that I could even keep clean with that thing.  It feels great to finally be able to clean the shower properly again too.

It is now 2010 12:40-ish in the morning.  Kyle, Ryan, and I just watched the ball drop at my apartment, Team Serious Living had their first New Year’s kiss, and we have a shower that works!  Life is good.
